HAPPY 3/29/11
HAPPY is basically a done deal. I will clean up a couple of minor things, but then, it’s ready for the road.
It’s been a great experience, and I’m looking forward to the next bolt of lighting to come.
HAPPY 3/26/11
Well, after much tweaking in MOTION, and wrestling with motion tracking effects, I have given the film a look with most of the composites, and it looks good. The sound really clicks as well. Just a couple of more effects, and a color grading would be in order.
Then it’s good to go.

Pacing is good on the cut. Did some effects tonight. Will do more tomorrow.
HAPPY 3/22/11
Tweaking the cut, and getting much closer to the final stages of establishing the rhythm. Dee’s performance turned out great…shades of Catherine Deneuve in REPULSION. Hunting for some more sounds to solidify it all.
Next will be the special effects, hopefully within the next few days.
HAPPY 3/21/11
Worked on first cut today, no effects, just the timing of shots. Not bad for a first go, but obviously a lot of work to do as well. In the forest, chopping trees.

HAPPY 3/20/11
Just wrapped up the shoot, and it was a good one.
Thanks to Chip, Gary, Erin, Marlene, Griffin, and Dee for all their patience and help.
And thanks to Marla and her family for allowing us to invade their space.
Off to post, where a world of possibilities await!
HAPPY 3/18/11
Just prepping everything for tomorrow’s shoot.
Dinner with cast and crew tonight.
HAPPY 3/17/11
Going down the list of things to do…managed to get 10 out of 14 items done.
Working on number 11 tonight, and will get the other 3 tomorrow.
Gift cards from this past holiday came in handy, keeping things under budget.
The flyswatter is gangbusters.
Tonight, it’s all about washing clothes and adjusting hinges on a canvas frame.

HAPPY 3/16/11
A lot’s been going on this week, leading up to the shoot this weekend.
Hung out with Chip, and Griffin (my DP and Set Manager, respectively) this past Sunday, and discussed how shots were going to be broken down, as well as agreeing to repaint the walls on the set. Lots of fun with posing dead bees and testing different lenses.
Broke down the shooting schedule and it looks good to go.

HAPPY 3/10/11
Decided to gamble a bit and place an order for a flyswatter with an antique look to it, all in the name of art direction…hope it gets here on time, or I’ll have to settle for a regular one….the joys of filmmaking are limitless.
This Sunday we go to the location to make sure things are in place, and go over any last second tweaks.
This has proven to be a fun, deceptively complex...

HAPPY 3/8/11
1. The beekeeper had what I was looking for…wish I thought of going there before, but then again, I was looking for wasps, not bees. So now I’m back to bees as my insect.
2. I’m an old school cat scratching furiously at the new world. I have resisted the use of a CG generated insect…I think part of it has to do with how I think HD will render certain things as being...
HAPPY 3/7/11
1. This flu/cold bug will not go away…just when you think you’ve got it beat, something new comes along.
2. Got my insects in the mail…NOT AS ADVERTISED! I am in complete disappointment, and while getting my money back could be slim, I’m glad I only ordered 2 instead of 8. I’m thinking of going to a beekeeper tomorrow…maybe I can salvage something from there.

HAPPY 3/4/11
Working on a photoshop file for the film…fun with blending layers.
HAPPY 3/3/11
Well, things are moving along:
1. Ordered my insects. Wanted eight, but could only get two. We’ll just have to handle with more care than usual. They should be here in a few days.
2. Found a nice prop for the film. Very ornate, with character.
3. We’ll be going to the place of the shoot in about a week to see if there any tweaks needed (painted walls, etc.).
4. The Nikon will be...
